DIESEL X EDUN - FAARROW - SAY MY NAME

VIDEO: FAARROW - SAY MY NAME

New Music Video From The Sisters Empowering Somali Women

Hailing from Mogadishu, Somalia: pop duo, Faarrowescaped civil war in their home country at an early age. Now living in LA, the sisters are the first female Somalis to land a major label record deal, and with their burgeoning musical career, they’ve become spokespeople for the continuing crisis in their homeland, with music being at the forefront of their lives and how they express their independence.

The video for new track, ‘Say My Name’ was filmed in a desert outside of Nairobi, Kenya as many Somalis came to Kenya after the war. Nairobi is a fitting location for the video to represent freedom and the huge Somali community that now reside there.

Loosely following an autobiographical story, the video showcases the girls’ distinctive style - heavy beats, Afro-pop harmonies, chunky jewellery and explosive curls  - and demonstrates the integral role their heritage plays in their lives: as evidenced by the appearance of their mother in the video and the traditional Somali dance that the women perform.

‘Say My Name’ has been made with Studio Africa; an initiative championing musical artists inspired by their African heritage.
