Last night Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ hosted the ultimate Scottish celebration with VIPs, comedians, Scottish sporting heroes, business luminaries, socialites and game changers, who gathered together to celebrate the final leg of John Walker & Son’s European journey back to Scotland.
Moored in Leith, Edinburgh, guests were invited to enjoy Johnnie Walker’s Scottish heritage through bespoke Johnnie Walker® Gold Label Reserve™ cocktails – including an exclusive cocktail created by Tigerlily’s Kevin Griffin - canapés and a live DJ set from Mary Charteris and Scottish-born fashion designer Pam Hogg, who DJ’d together for the very first time. The set was interrupted by the quintessentially Scottish Clanadonias – a Scottish, pipe and drum band – who toasted the end of the voyage. Guests of the evening included; Tessa Hartmann, Founder of The Scottish Fashion Awards, ex-rugby player Thom Evans (who looked smart in an Aston Martin Collection by Bespoke HQ suit), Scottish supermodel Anna Freemantle, sixties rock legend Donovan, Co-Founder of Underbelly Charlie Wood, designer Jacob Birge, lions legend Ryan Grant and Olympic swimmer David Carry, as well as a host of high-profile comedians performing at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe including Craig Campbell and Carl Donnelly.
With the Johnnie Walker journey continuing in Scotland, guests were astonished to find the coveted Ryder Cup showcased onboard, highlighting the brand’s long standing involvement with the sport. The Ryder Cup arrives in Gleneagles in 2014.
As part of its European journey, the impressive luxury yacht recently hosted a series of glamorous Johnnie Walker® events in Cannes which were visited by VIP guests including Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Leonardo Dicaprio, as well as three days of exclusive events in London in July, with guests including Johnnie Walker® Blue Label™ Brand Ambassador David Gandy and Singer-Songwriter Paloma Faith.
Edinburgh represented John Walker & Sons Voyager’s last leg of its epic Western European journey - that re-imagined the epic ocean voyages that took Johnnie Walker from the four corners of Scotland to the four corners of the world. The luxury yacht docked in Edinburgh on Monday 12th August to host a series of high-profile events and experiences that celebrated stories of progress and innovation, and national influencers who embody the pioneering spirit and vision of the Walker family.
