OMEGA House opens in the heart of Soho
OMEGA, the Official Timekeeper of the London 2012 Olympic Games opened its exclusive residence for members and invited guests on the 28th of July. The party to celebrate the opening welcomed actress and OMEGA brand ambassador Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban, along with a number entertainment and sport personalities.
Among the celebrity guests were Kit Harrington who has enjoyed recent success in the popular series Game of Thrones. Eddie Redmayne, the star of My Week with Marilyn and a number of West End theatrical successes, as was model and television personality Jodie Kidd.
The party started rocking with tunes selected by no less a DJ than pop star Jarvis Cocker.
The OMEGA House will remain a hub of OMEGA’s social activities through the night of the 12th of August when the Closing Ceremony takes place.
The stunning Georgian townhouse in the historic heart of Soho provides a central home for OMEGA's invited guests and offers its guests a luxurious retreat from the hustle and bustle of streets and venues in the Olympic host city.
Rooms that reflect OMEGA’s collections
The design of the House has been created to mirror the many lifestyle aspects and important collections that OMEGA has to offer. For example, the Ladymatic Lounge, named for the brand’s stylish mechanical watch for women, is subtly decorated in elegantly classic tones. The Hour Vision Atelier honours the brand’s Hour Vision line and is furnished in a way that recalls the exclusive clubs that have been part of London’s elite social life for decades. The space-themed Speedmaster Bar, named after the first watch to be worn on the Moon, is a reminder of OMEGA’s nearly half-century relationship with NASA. The Magic Garden features a large screen television for avid Olympic fans, and a chance for guests to relax at the end of the day on comfortable outdoor furniture whilst listening to the cheers for their favourite teams.
The House of OMEGA
OMEGA, who will be the Official Timekeepers of the Olympic Games for the 25th time, recognises the importance of creating an environment where guests can meet, and can also appreciate the history and values of the brand in an environment away from the Olympic Stadium. OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart said, “We were delighted with the enthusiastic reception the OMEGA House received on this opening night. All of us at OMEGA have been looking forward to this evening and it exceeded our expectations.”
Renovations and upgrades are a fitting legacy
OMEGA had a number of upgrades and renovations done to the House of St. Barnabas and these will remain a permanent part of the building and its exterior landscaping. In the garden, this legacy includes the decking, the floral arrangements and the built in furniture. In the house itself, new flooring has been installed and the walls were repainted in English Heritage colours. A redesigned bar was integrated and will also remain in the House of St. Barnabas after the Olympic Games. Other improvements include the redesign of all non-historic rooms, new toilets throughout the building, new wallpaper, repainted railings and exterior walls and a repainted front door. Stephen Urquhart said, “We have been pleased to have the opportunity to offer a facelift to an important London building in one of the city’s most historic quarters. We are also proud to be able to support the excellent work that the House of St. Barnabas does and it is fitting that we are able to help make this landmark location even more attractive.”
