Nadja Swarovski and Swarovski Foundation Host Spectacular Dinner to Celebrate The Opening of 'Fundamentals' by Rem Koolhaas

Last night Nadja Swarovski and the Swarovski Foundation hosted a drinks reception and dinner to celebrate the opening of Fundamentals at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale Di Venezia, in honour of its curator, renowned architect Rem Koolhaas. The event, held at the Palazzo Polignac, brought together some of the most recognisable and influential names in architecture, art and design including Deyan Sudjic, Sarah Miller, John Pawson, Paola Antonelli, Bianca and Gilberto Arrivabene, Asif Khan, Ross Lovegrove, Martin Roth and Zoe Ryan.

The Swarovski Foundation, launched in Venice last year to pursue charitable goals including supporting educational and cultural causes, is a donor for the 14th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia. The donation to Biennale Architettura 2014 deepens the Swarovski Foundation’s relationship with the city of Venice following the restoration of the statue of San Giorgio at the Basilica di San Giorgio Maggiore, which was unveiled in April 2014.

The 14th International Architecture Exhibition of la Biennale di Venezia runs from June 7 to November 23 2014.

Swarovski Foundation

The Swarovski Foundation was set up in 2013 to pursue charitable goals to honor the philanthropic spirit of Daniel Swarovski, who founded the crystal business in 1895. Since then, five generations of the Swarovski family have reinforced the company’s commitment to philanthropy and charitable giving. The Swarovski Foundation’s mission is to build on this heritage by supporting charitable initiatives and organizations working in three areas: Fostering Creativity and Culture by promoting the arts, advancing education, supporting cultural institutions and innovative projects with cutting edge talent; Promoting Wellbeing by supporting initiatives on women’s empowerment, access to health and education and the advancement and development of young people and communities; and Conserving Natural Resources through water sustainability and environmental projects to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment.

The Swarovski Foundation’s trustees are Nadja Swarovski (Chairperson), Anthony Julius, Paul van Zyl, Helen Jenkins and Emma Soames. www.swarovskifoundation.org
