Henry Holland celebrates Magnum's 25th Birthday

Henry Holland has teamed up with Magnum to celebrate its 25th birthday and has commemorated the occasion by designing a stunning dress inspired by the ice cream itself.

The dress was unveiled yesterday at a star-studded bash held at Home House, London, with the likes of Vanessa White, Lilah Parsons, Gizzi Erskine, Kimberley Garner, Caggie Dunlop and the Wellers in attendance.

An edible chocolate replica of the dress was also made. Crafted by a team of three expert chocolatiers, it took over 100 hours to handcraft the dress, and the chocolate used to make it is equal to the amount of chocolate found on 833 Magnum Classics ice creams!

Henry Holland Q&A

What’s your favourite Magnum and why?
I love a Classic Magnum – the almond one is my favourite!

Why did you get involved with Magnum?

Magnum has done some amazing fashion partnerships in the past with Karl Lagerfeld and Zac Posen. When they approached me about the project it seemed like a really exciting opportunity. Plus the prospect of free Magnum’s didn’t hurt!

What inspired the dress?
Using an ice-cream as inspiration for a dress was definitely a first! But it was fun using the idea of cracking chocolate to create a piece of clothing.

Have you ever inspired by ice cream before?
Yes – I did an entire range from my Mr Quiffy ice-cream van

What was your favourite part about the project?
Having the opportunity to work so heavily with sequin embellishment and creating such an expensive dress

Have you been tempted to eat the chocolate dress?
Yes – every second I look at it!

Are you going to eat the chocolate dress afterwards?
Who knows…

What was the colour brown like to work with considering you usually work a brighter palette?
I know it sounds minor but it was an exciting challenge and I really enjoyed it

How would you accessorise the dress?
With a simple cream, court heel and a playful, metallic clutch

What’s next for Henry Holland?
I’m working on my Resort Collection and preparing for the launch of our first handbag line which will go into stores in July

Do you think you will work with Magnum again in the future?
Who knows – you’ll have to watch this space
