"ANIMAL HOUSE" MARNI Salone del Mobile 2014

On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2014 the installation Animal House will come alive at Viale Umbria 42. A festive caravansary of Marni, where giraffes, ostriches, rabbits, ducks, donkeys and flamingos, made of metal and bright colored PVC, will take over the space, joining the products of the new limited edition charity project.

Marni has collaborated with a group of Colombian women to create new handmade pieces where each one is unique, but tailored in different colors. Asymmetry, the leitmotif of this year’s project, generates spatial figures, potentially infinite through the use of multiple shapes. Traditional chairs with two armrests are pulled together with one armrest styles, set either on the left or the right side, and with small benches, allowing different compositions. Tables can be grouped together too. Chaise lounges and rocking chairs complete the collection.

The freedom of choosing different compositions, characteristic of this limited edition, is reflected in all Marni ready-to-wear and accessories collections, where every combination is individual and unique. The idea of summing up with no limits reflects a positive outlook, a continuous growth and evolution of the brand that will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year.

During Salone del Mobile, the new issue of Marni’s online magazine - ANTICAMERA - will be entirely dedicated to Animal House, narrating the stories of the women that have contributed to the project.

Like in the previous editions, Animal House has also been made in Colombia. This year’s limited edition was handcrafted by women, who gained independence and emancipation through their work. The collaboration reaffirms Marni’s commitment to charity initiatives: part of the revenues will be donated to associations helping terminally ill children.
