For SS14 Reem was inspired by the story of Madame Butterfly in which an American lieutenant arrives in Japan and marries a Geisha (Madame Butterfly) only to abandon her and their child and then returns with his American bride and attempts take the child from her. Madame Butterfly attempts to take her own life but stops when she hears the sound of her child crying. The romantic, Japanese inspiration can be seen through the soft draping sleeves, kimono style shapes and floral embroidery which helps create the soft, effortless, elegance Reem is known for.
