Tattoo artist MXM designs for McQ Alexander McQueen Menswear

This September, McQ Alexander McQueen introduces two unique print designs created exclusively for McQ by tattoo artist and editor of Sang Bleu MXM, aka Maxime Büchi.

The nautical tattoo designs will appear on a loose drop-shoulder T-shirt and a fitted white shirt with a cut-away button down collar, available to buy as part of the McQ Autumn/Winter 2013 menswear collection. Two further designs will appear next season for Spring/Summer 2014.

The print was inspired by traditionally maritime iconography such as compasses and ships, reworked by Maxime in his own unique handwriting. Imagery also evokes the idea of the savage versus the explorer, looking at ideas of colonisation. Offering a very graphic and modern interpretation of an otherwise traditional subject matter, the garments feature a range of print techniques and crimson red lacquer overprinting.

Available instore and online at www.alexandermcqueen.com/mcq from September.
