LILY AND LIONEL COLLABORATE WITH SENTEBALE TO PRODUCE A LIMITED EDITION BASOTHO BLANKET INSPIRED SCARF
Prince Harry’s charity, Sentebale and Lily and Lionel are delighted to announce their partnership with a limited edition collection being launched at the private view of the Sentebale – Stories of Hope exhibition on the 25th July at the Getty Images Gallery. 75% of the sale price will be donated to Sentebale to help build a brighter future for the children of Lesotho.
Sentebale, which means ‘forget-me-not’ was set up by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho and it’s dedicated to providing healthcare and education to children affected by poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The exclusive print on the scarf has been inspired by Lesotho’s national costume - the Basotho blanket - which is commonly worn to protect the people from the cold, harsh climate and holds significant importance to the Basotho culture. The mealie (maize) design which has been incorporated into the scarf appears on the Seanamarena and Sefate ranges of blanket and is a symbol of fertility.
Each scarf will be retailed at £180. By purchasing one scarf, Sentebale can send 28 HIV-positive children to a network club in their local district allowing them to connect with other HIV-positive children and receive the necessary emotional and psychological supported needed to stay adherent to their antiretroviral treatment.
Alice Stone, Creative Director of Lily and Lionel commented “Thank you to Getty Images Gallery for involving Lily and Lionel in this incredible project with Sentebale. We're really proud to be working alongside this lovely charity, and hope that together we can raise as much awareness and support for Sentebale as possible. The work Sentebale do is inspiring, so we're delighted that 75% of the sale price from each scarf will be donated to them.
We have only produced 30 pieces of each of the two designs for this project, making it a very special, limited edition collection. We took our inspiration from traditional Basotho blankets and gave it a Lily and Lionel twist to create a print that we're excited to launch at the Getty Images Gallery later this month.”
Cathy Ferrier, CEO of Sentebale commented “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Lily and Lionel and are hugely grateful for their support in helping these vulnerable children.
Not only is this limited edition collection stunning, we hope people will be proud to wear them, knowing they have helped make a difference to a child’s life.”
The limited edition collection will be available online at www.lilyandlionel.com from the26th July.
