Bono may be a proud activist, but he also has a proud activist wife, Ali Hewson, who founded Edun in 2005 to promote ethical fashion. The clothes of Edun are made in Africa and support people in Uganda, Kenya, and Mali. Edun's current head designer Sharon Wauchob is in her third season of showing her collection at New York Fashion Week and her Spring/Summer 2012 collection brought out the big names like Bono himself, Michael Stipe, Courtney Love, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Sting, and his wife. Ironically, although Edun's creation stemmed from Hewson's passion for Africa, Africa itself never played a part in the actual collection's fabric, prints, and patterns. We could see it just a smidge through prints, beads, and dangling earrings, but it was still there. Africa or not, Wauchob does design clothes that women want to wear, and they'll keep making Africa their thing, whether or not it's highlighted in the collection.
