JOHN VARVATOS CELEBRATES NY FASHION WEEK WITH PERFORMANCE BY THE ROOTS& SPECIAL GUEST GARY CLARK JR

September 8, 2011 - New York, NY – Rock ‘n’ Roll designer John Varvatos kicked off NY Fall Fashion Week, on Fashion’s Night Out, with a very special concert at his 315 Bowery store featuring the stars of his Fall 2011 ad campaign, and four time GRAMMY award winning artists The Roots. Special Guest Gary Clark Jr. opened the show. This was an Invitation-Only concert made everyone in attendance feel like rock royalty.
The New York Fashion Week crowd, which was as fresh and diverse as the music, packed in to the dimly lit former CBGB’s space for Belvedere cocktails and Heinekens mingled with the variety of musicians and fashion industry VIPs. John Varvatos gave a special introduction of Gary Clark Jr. and his band as the opening show. The music was fluid and amorphous, filling the air with a sexy energy that only live guitars and high-fashion parties can spawn.

The Roots played a nice blend of their hip hop music while also playing tribute and covering amazing rock bands such as Led Zepplin and Guns ‘n’ Roses …it was a rock fan’s dream come true.

John Varvatos commented on evening’s performances saying, “Incredible. It’s something about the Roots being true musicians—they filled the room with pulsing energy, the likes of which we have never had. This was historic.”
