Marilyn Monroe & Blancpain

Blancpain acquired last Friday evening the Blancpain watch formerly owned by Marilyn Monroe.

This model was part of a lot sold at the auction of the legendary actress and singer’s personal effects held in Los Angeles by Julien’s Auctions. The sale represented the culmination of an international traveling exhibition starring some of the iconic star’s most outstanding accessories and jewelry. The most noteworthy memorabilia on offer included the famous dress she wore to sing “Happy Birthday Mr President”, along with the Blancpain timepiece.

The latter is an Art Deco style platinum jewelry set with round and marquise-cut diamonds. The dial and the movement bear the signature “Blancpain, Rayville Watch Co.”, while the bracelet features two safety chains with a folding clasp. Commenting on this purchase, Blancpain President and CEO Mr Marc Hayek enthused: “We are delighted to have acquired this exceptional timepiece that once belonged to America’s most emblematic star. This model is now returning to Switzerland where it was made.”
