Turnbull & Asser are pleased to introduce their collaborative project with the iconic hatters, Lock & Co to curate a set of limited edition headwear.
" When we were looking to create a unique piece of headwear for AW14 we didn't have to look far from Jermyn Street for help , in fact just around the corner to St. James's Street.
Lock & Co are widely renowned for being the oldest and best hatters in London, and when choosing collaborative partners I only want to work with the best.
I like the fact that our pieces were hand finished in the workshop above the shop, just as they would have over 300 years ago, but the result is very contemporary"
Dean Gomilsek-Cole, Head of Design at Turnbull & Asser
Established in 1676, Lock & Co, is the oldest hat maker in the world, providing traditional and functional styles that retain a quintessential British appeal, whilst always evolving to keep a strong pace with current trends. As neighbours of St James and holders of the Royal Warrant, the partnership acknowledges a shared respect of original design, workmanship and bravura.
The collaboration centres on Turnbull & Asser’s AW14 concept, the Formalist Vs the Informalist that looks to the different personalities and occasions of a man’s wardrobe. Made in England, the contemporary trilby uses Lock & Co’s Atlantic style in 100% felt; featuring a Turnbull & Asser fabricated trim. Available in two colour ways; navy and black, the contrasting trim provides a twist on the tradition using Turnbull & Asser designed tie fabrics.
Utilising the Formalist concept, the black trilby is paired with a navy and black woven silk band inspired by the window panes of the Gerkin for a modern-day aesthetic. Whereas the cashmere, wool and silk textured band gives a nod to the Informalist against navy.
Each of the two options is exclusively available at the Turnbull & Asser store on Jermyn Street and atwww.turnbullandasser.co.uk from October 16th 2014.
Price: £225
