#HookedOnMusic Late

#HookedOnMusic Late

An evening of music, dancing, silent disco and debate

Science and music battle it out on Saturday 1 November for #HookedOnMusic Late on the penultimate night of the 2014 Manchester Science Festival.

Manchester’s music elite will go head-to-head in a debate against scientists who have been analyzing results from the Museum of Science & Industry’s recent Citizen Sciencehookedonmusic.org.uk online game to decide once and for all, what makes a catchy tune.

In the debate, DJ Dave Haslam and other industry producers and experts will probe Dr Ashley Burgoyne’s results to conclude where the sweet spot lies between science and music to form a hit record.

The event also features a DJ set from the Hacienda legend Dave Haslam and a Silent Disco.  So that’s debates, DJs, dancing, drinking and a silent disco combined to create the perfect Saturday night in this really unusual and exciting venue.

The event is a free, ticketed event – those who would like to attend should head towww.manchestersciencefestival.com/whatson/msf14hookedonmusiclate to book tickets. The event forms part of a series of events for the Manchester Science Festival. Dr Marieke Navin, Director of Manchester Science Festival at the Museum of Science & Industry said, "People have been playing the game #HookedOnMusic for months, it’s now time to put the results of the experiment to the test. What really makes a hook, and what makes a hit. Find out as music and science combine to make the perfect night out.”

DJ Dave Haslam said: “This is set to be a great night, challenging thoughts and perceptions about what makes a hit record topped off with a good dance and party. A night not to be missed for music fans and revelers alike.”
