July 2014 sees the AW14 collection from Tom Morris launching on House of Fraser online. The range takes inspiration from the journey Tom Morris took from St Andrews to Prestwick in 1851.
The journey across Scotland, from East to West, the land, the people and his destination, Prestwick, are reflected in the 2014 Autumn/Winter collection. A controlled, colourful palette uses tonal combinations of russets, vintage indigos and neutrals with the collection boasting a relaxed feel, using subtle garment washes and soft constructions in its array of knitwear, outerwear, chinos, shirts and accessories.
The road trip shaped the young man, showcasing his vision, ambition, innovation and commitment to quality. He left behind his hometown St Andrews as a golfer of some distinction but would make the return journey several years later with a burgeoning career that would see him designing some of the world’s greatest courses; manufacturing the modern golf ball; and maintaining the iconic links courses, most notably the Old Course at the Home of Golf, St Andrews.
In keeping with the brand’s commitment to British design, heritage and innovation the knitwear features everything from lightweight 14gg Merino/Cotton to Made in Scotland Fair Isle and cashmere cables to tweed effect button shoulder crew necks and heavy weight shawl cardigans. Wools feature in the quilted blazer, a Made in England double face peacoat and wool down jacket.
Tom serves as inspiration throughout the collection and appears in graphic tees, featuring either an archive image of the man or the vintage St Andrews map, which is skillfully crafted as an internal print on products such as the cotton field jacket.
The full collection will be available to buy from www.houseoffraser.co.uk from mid July 2014.
