Philanthropist And Cancer Survivor Tiffany Jones To Star In New Oprah Winfrey Network Docu Series

Tiffany Jones was put on this earth to bring light, love, spirituality and awareness to the world. On April 12th at 10pm, that light is going to spread like wildfire across the country. A two-time breast cancer survivor, Tiffany made the difficult decision to have a double mastectomy, and most recently coming full circle with full breast reconstruction, while documenting every step as one of the stars of OWN’s new Docu-series, “Love In The City.” Early breast cancer detection for the camera-ready beauty was what inspired the survivor to launch her foundation,PinkChoseMe. Targeted at spreading the word on breast cancer awareness by reaching low-income schools, homes, and women’s shelters, while also supporting through education, nutrition, body awareness, and embodying healthy living, all of these things truly encompass the mission of PinkChoseMe.

Starring on OWN’s “Love In The City,” Tiffany has been given an enormous platform to share her recovery with others, and to be an example for others to know that “when you’re diagnosed with something that is life threatening you can power through, you can rebuild, and you can become the person you are designed to be,” says Jones. Having the opportunity to catch Oprah’s attention with her story of survival has only accelerated spreading Jones’ message of awareness.

Originally diagnosed and treated in 2005, Tiffany’s cancer returned in stage three in 2007. After a year of draining chemotherapy, she devoted herself to her nonprofit's mission: awareness. "When you’re getting in front of a doctor, and you’re dealing with yourself and your body, a lot of women just shut down. What I really would like to tell everyone is that when you start taking care of yourself, you start taking care of the world around you...Go to the doctor up front. Don't wait until something is wrong."

PinkChoseMe is also working on a program to teach women about the importance of self-examination. Jones traveled to Ghana last May for the country's first Susan G. Komen walk and was shocked at their mystical beliefs about breast cancer: "They think you’ve been scarred by a god, and your husband leaves you," Jones explained. She hopes to implement educational programs in high school and college training groups so that Ghanaian women will no longer be afraid to see a doctor for breast cancer treatment.
