Dune are announce an SS14 collaboration with Christopher Shannon.

Dune reveals exciting Menswear collaboration with Christopher Shannon

Following on from the huge success of womenswear collaborations with Joanne Stoker and Kat Maconie, Dune continues their support of up and coming designers with the launch of their menswear collaboration with Christopher Shannon, whose designs impress with his contemporary, urban style.

Graduating from the prestigious Central St Martins with an MA in menswear in 2009, Shannon went on to show at London Collections Spring/Summer 11. More recently, Christopher’s SS14 collection took
LC: M by storm with his use of translucent rubber and strong influence from the super club scene of the late 90s.

Christopher’s collection for Dune is inspired by footwear shapes he would personally wear. With colours ranging from optic and sporty to more formal classic tones. Shannon has chosen a complementary mix of materials, with the shine of textured patent next to the richness of suede particularly standing out. Light- weight handcrafted sport inspired EVA soles feature heavily alongside hand stamped leathers for a high quality finish on the boots. Classic cup soles feature on the pumps and slip-on’s to give the collection a futuristic urban edge. Christopher has chosen to name each style after a town in his birthplace, Liverpool.

Christopher says of the collection;

“The project for me was about putting a different slant on the Dune brand without isolating the current customer. Sometimes designer collaborations can be intimidating and I wanted this to feel inclusive and exciting. I wanted to create a new dialogue between the fabrications, textures and finishes, selecting styles that would work as a range and complement each other by cross referencing the details. Ideally you could travel with a few pairs and always have an appropriate choice which is key for a modern man’s wardrobe. The versatility of the styles makes them perfect for the current trend for capsule dressing. “

Available from the first week of March 2014, the collection comprises five shoe designs with prices from £100 to £145.
