MOLTON BROWN LAUNCHES NEW FINE FRAGRANCE VALBONNE (43 ̊ 38’ N, 7 ̊ 0’ E)
LONDON VIA PROVENCE
October 2012 sees Molton Brown launch Valbonne (43 ̊ 38’ N, 7 ̊ 0’ E) – the latest addition to the brand’s first fine fragrance collection, Navigations Through Scent. Each scent takes inspiration from the origins of perfume and the ancient trade routes, with Valbonne landing in the global capital of perfume, Grasse, in the Provencal region of France.
Inspired by the leather tanning origins of the town and its historic association with perfume making, Molton Brown has created a fragrance that fuses past with present. Valbonne (43 ̊ 38’ N, 7 ̊ 0’ E) is a leather-wrapped floral scent, with top notes of dewy orange flower and bergamot. Provencal mimosa, rose and deep purple orris are at its heart, followed by rich, base notes of vetyver and leather.
As Jennifer Jambon, Molton Brown’s Principal Perfumer explains:
“The old Gantier perfumers were renowned for the way they infused leather with local flowers and essential oils to create fashionable and luxurious scented gloves. In Valbonne we have created a modern version of this traditional fragrance - starting with bergamot and orange flower, the scent combines with a floral heart made up of orris, rose, jasmine and mimosa from Grasse. The intense, woody base note is of leather with a hint of vetyver, which balances the overall fragrance to make it unisex.”
As the seventh launch within the Navigations Through Scent collection, Valbonne joins Iunu, Lijiang, Singosari, Apuldre, Rogart and limited edition Londinium.
