G.H Bass & Co. X huntergather - Collaboration

Iconic footwear brand G.H. Bass have teamed up with British contemporary menswear label huntergather on a limited edition penny loafer.  Together they have created a leather Penny Weejun loafer for women and a Larson Weejun loafer for men, each with a huntergather branded plectrum on the front.

Stylist and co-founder of huntergather David Bradshaw says, “When I met Michael Jackson at the Mondrian Hotel in LA for the first fitting of the Scream video I was about to style, he was wearing a fedora, mirrored aviators, a black military tunic with gold braid, skinny black jeans, white terry socks and a pair of well worn, black, classic Bass Weejun penny loafers. Every day on the shoot I saw him rehearse complex dance routines in those same shoes, his body immersed in an energy hard to describe.  Gliding through space, snapping and popping to rhythms he alone could feel, each movement a performance in itself and an incredible privilege to see. I've worn Weejun's ever since.”
Huntergather is a fashion label with a fresh take on contemporary masculinity and caters for a creative community including architects, writers, designers, stylists and photographers.  The history of G.H. Bass & Co. dates back to Maine in 1876 and George Henry Bass - a man on a simple mission to make the very best shoe. In 1936, G.H. Bass & Co. put a stylish spin on a Norwegian farm shoe designed for “loafing in the field,” and playfully dubbed them Weejuns, introducing the world’s first penny loafer. From strolling across college campuses to doing the moonwalk, ‘Weejuns’ have been found on industrious feet ever since.
Priced at £125, the loafers are available exclusively at Huntergather’s Redchurch Street store in Shoreditch.
