TREND: Feathers - Busardi perfects SS15's Ethereal Feathers

TREND: FEATHERS - BUSARDI PERFECTS SS15'S ETHEREAL FEATHERS

Feathers made a strong appearance on the Spring/Summer 2015 catwalks and prêt-à-couture label, Busardi quite possibly did the trend best. The Spring/Summer 2015 collection took inspiration from the sweeping landscapes and microenvironments of South America - from the glacier-hewn fields of Patagonia, the serene but powerful Iguazu falls, to the golden pink sand deserts of Argentina.

The implementation of soft, ethereal ostrich feathers on cocktail dresses, evening gowns, capes and skirting nod to exquisite birds in flight. Billowing silhouettes glided down the London Fashion Week catwalk and the feathers gently shifted through the air, enhanced by Busardi’s signature use of embroidery, lace and appliqué.

Floating hemlines and floor skimming skirts challenge the traditional notions of evening wear and Busardi’s trademark cape was reconceptualised for the summer season. One is carefully constructed out of overlapping layers of white ostrich feathers and laser cut lace, while a silver and blue silk and lace cape is layered with floating chalcedony-hued feathers.

Transparent maxi skirts are carefully adorned with strategically placed feather trim and clusters of soft feathers give shape to waist and necklines.
