Stefano Pilati Speaks at International New York Times Luxury Conference
The Collaborative Mind: Science and Creativity
Stefano Pilati, head of design at Ermenegildo Zegna Couture, spoke yesterday morning at The New York Times International Luxury Conference in Miami about his first-of-its-kind collaboration with astrophysicist Dr. Fiorella Terenzi to fuse astronomy and fashion for Zegna's Fall/ Winter 2014 Men's Collection, which took place in Milan last January.
The AW14 collection is based an astronomical film which depicts a real scientific path traced by an astrophysicist and a unique set of trajectories formed from Milan to the far edge of the universe.
Highlights of the discussion included:
•How Zegna incorporated real sounds from space, including those of a new galaxy and planets, into the fashion show to create a new audience experience
•How the artistry of science can be reflected in fashion
•The collaborative process of working with an astrophysicist on a fashion show
