Helen Ruth Hibernation

Award winning designer, Helen Ruth explores her rural woodland childhood with her latest collection “Hibernation.”   From growing up in Aberdeenshire in Scotland’s highlands, Helen spent her childhood in her garden and beyond, and has brought together some of her earliest memories to create a truly personal collection with it’s routes both in the heart and down the garden path.

Change and fluidity are key factors through the collection, from hibernation to flying South. Ruth has used her surroundings to make a quiet and elegant series of printed sillk scarves to capture the imagination. From birds flying in formation overhead for the Winter, to the hedgehog who lived at the bottom of the garden, her illustrations tell a nostalgic near fairytale fantastical approach to childhood.

It’s not all cute furry creatures; slugs, bugs and other garden staples make their way in to her designs to paint a full imaginative and colourful collection.  Having secured international stockists she continues to carve out her space as one of the most exciting young talents in Scottish textiles and fashion today.

Helen Ruth is available online and at Edinburgh pop up /edition at Ocean Terminal till January and an exciting scarf tying workshop the 29th-30th of November where customers will be invited to learn how to style their Helen  Ruth scarf this season.
