STELLA JEAN ... Cotton to Catwalk





To mark the 50th anniversary of the International Trade Centre (ITC), Italian-Haitian fashion designer Stella Jean showcased on the 12th June, in the Atrium of the World Trade Organization (WTO)  some of her collections produced through her collaboration with ITC’s Ethical Fashion Initiative.Stella was selected for this event because she embodies the philosophy of the Ethical Fashion Initiative which values high quality, beautiful handwork. 

 

The collection included pieces from SS 2014 menswear and womenswear and bags from FW 2014 15made with the handmade  fabrics of Burkina Faso, along with the preview of the jewelry collection from the new project the designer developed in Haiti (bracelets made using recycled materials, in metal drums, “fer forgé in French) and the preview of bags made with Bogolan (mud cloth) from Mali andmanufactured in Kenya, thus a cross-African luxury handbag.
