The luxury and contemporary British handbag brand Golden Lane has opened its first ‘Pop-Up’ at 37 Monmouth Street in Seven Dials.
Golden Lane launched its first collection in spring 2013, and is known for its signature two-split compartment satchel design. The label is synonymous with effortless style with a feminine and playful twist.
The award winning designers Chris Liu and Tibor Matyas met while they were working as design consultants for Burberry Prorsum. They instantly clicked and realized that with Tibor’s business background in arts management and marketing, and Chris’ design flair, they could go it alone and start working as a design duo. Chris studied womenswear at the London College of Fashion, and after graduating and working alongside Christopher Bailey at the affluent fashion house, soon realised that designing accessories was his real forte.
In 2006 they decided to launch their own men’s accessories label Chris & Tibor, which went on to achieve award-winning success. It was a good move; as Chris and Tibor have gone on to collaborate with big name designers, such as Walter Van Beirendonck, Stuart Semple, Juun J, and Romain Kremer. They had always been tempted to design a women’s collection as well, so after careful planning and a year in design, the Golden Lane signature satchel was finally born in the spring of 2013.
Golden Lane was born out of the duo’s shared passion for architecture. The architecture and social scenes that surrounded the Barbican and Golden Lane area in London particularly inspired them
The Pop-Up on Monmouth Street will feature Golden Lane’s new collection, which introduces young and iconic designs: the backpack and the mini shoulder bag. It will also join a variety of beauty and accessory brands in Seven Dials including Shu Uemura, Caudalie, Laura Lee, Tatty Devine and Miller Harris.
