THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GIORGIO ARMANI AND INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL CONTINUES
The designer creates the new formal wardrobe for FC Bayern München
The long-standing relationship between Giorgio Armani and the world of international sport continues. After making the formal uniform for Chelsea F.C. from 2007-2009, the designer now has the pleasure of announcing a three-year agreement with FC Bayern München, the champion team of Germany for 2014 and winners of the Champions League 2013 and the FIFA Club World Cup 2013, to create the club's official clothing.
The new wardrobe, which comes from the Giorgio Armani Made to Measure Collection, will be provided to the players and management staff – 77 men and 3 women. The uniform includes a suit in anthracite gray wool/cashmere, with a jacket with two buttons and rounded lapels, waistcoat and flat-front trousers, to be worn with a reinforced cotton shirt in light grey with hidden buttons. The look is completed by a grey tie with a red micro-pattern, a tribute to the club's official colours, a classic black lace-up shoes, and a duster coat.
Among the accessories Giorgio Armani is supplying are a trolley bag, a beauty case, a small messenger bag – all in leather in midnight blue – as well as sunglasses.
A travel wear uniform will be made solely for the players and coach, Pep Guardiola. It will be supplied from the Giorgio Armani Made to Measure Collection and consists of a jacket with a soft fit and slightly deconstructed shoulders, matching trousers with a comfortable fit, and a long sleeve polo shirt.
All of the garments will be customised with a label stating: "Giorgio Armani for", followed by the name of the wearer.
Giorgio Armani says: "Guardiola's Bayern is a winning team that plays a quality game, and is composed of motivated athletes with an international scope. That's why I decided to once again work with a highly important football club, creating an entire Made to Measure wardrobe for them. A tailored suit is a true contemporary luxury, which is perfect for a top club like Bayern and adapts naturally to the athletes' bodies".
“We are very proud and delighted that the FC Bayern München will from now on be dressed by the Maestro of the fashion world - Giorgio Armani“, says Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of the FC Bayern München. “In this way FC Bayern is not only on top level sports wise, but also fashion wise“.
