JEROME C. ROUSSEAU SS14

The Spring/Summer 2014 collection is inspired in great part by African tribal decoration and embellishment. Drawing on natural elements and the bold creativity used by the Omo tribes, and the decorative way in which they incorporate nature in their costumes, and inspired by the signature aesthetic of Sade from the mid to late eighties and this is shown in the elegant shapes and details of the collection.

Spring 2014 sees the use of playful texture. Python, croc, printed ponyskin, cork and metallic leathers with patent leather to accentuate the contrasts. This season marks a clear return to embellishment. Beading, laser cutting, perforation, buttons and leather stitches all adorn shoes.

As part of his this collection Los Angles based shoe designer JEROME C. ROUSEAU has collaborated with artist Emily J. Snyder to create an incredible hand beaded masterpiece.

The Juda shoe from Jerome C. Rousseau is one of his most iconic styles and this limited edition design is a special collaboration for the season between Jerome and artist Emily. The shoe is embellished with hand-applied coral, freshwater pearls and vintage Czech glass beads (around 7,000 pieces in total) with each pair taking more than 80 hours to complete.
