Guests experienced a magical winter wonderland with the illusion of snow falling as they entered from the Strand along an arched pathway lined with fir trees. The Coach Christmas tree was beautifully lit, scattered with metallic stars and adorned with the classic Coach hang tags in silver. The iconic Coach Horse and Carriage set in matte gold stood at the base of the tree, displayed behind an ice wall, showcasing the latest Coach Borough bags.
Guests enjoyed skating on London’s most stylish ice rink and witnessed a spectacular projection of floating handbags encased in ice. The crescendo of the projection was helium bubbles in the shape of Coach handbags being blown into the air – the first time the effect has been used outside of the art world.
The projection was followed by a performance from English electronic rock group The Big Pink, with Mary Charteris as lead singer, finished up with a buzzing DJ set from Pixie Geldof and Jack Guinness. The Hackney Colliery Band brought brass beats earlier in the evening.
A selection of canapes including mini burgers, glazed sausages, mini crab cakes; bowl food of fish & chips and beef cheek; and desserts including cinnamon doughnuts and chocolate brownies were served from Somerset House’s resident chef Tom Aikens. Guests drank champagne, mulled wine and Coach cocktails of cranberry sloe gin and apricot brandy.
