ANCIENT GREEK SANDALS COLLABORATES WITH MARIOS SCHWAB
FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2013
The creator of Ancient Greek Sandals, Christina Martini today unveiled her collaboration with fellow Greek designer Marios Schwab as part of his spring/summer 2013 RTW collection. Martini worked with Marios Schwab to create two exclusive sandals for his highly anticipated catwalk show, which took place on schedule at London Fashion Week.
Inspired by ancient heritage as well as taking influence from Native American Indians. Both sandals were shown in black unlined vacchetta leather. The sandals feature painted raffia fringe, lacing and tinted raw edging. One is a gladiator sandal with intricate leather lacing and buckles while the second is a lower ankle silhouette.
“I always admired Marios as a designer and I am a true follower of his work, especially as we both are from Greece. Besides his beautiful clothes he always designs very unique shoes so for me as a shoe designer I was very interested and excited Marios wanted to work with me.” Christina Martini
"When I began working on spring/summer 13 I knew I wanted to incorporate sandals based on traditional silhouette but much more exaggerated in detail into the show as the feel was an element of rawness combined with a high level of craftsmanship. I really like Christina's philosophy behind the Ancient Greek Sandals. We are both from Greece so the fact that they are all handmade by local craftsman was very special to me. I love mixing fabrics and textures and wanted to create something quite bold but still traditional." Marios Schwab
The sandals will be available in key stores worldwide-for spring/summer 2013 and will be available in tan with a natural fringe as well as the black, shown on the catwalk.
