DOLCE&GABBANA AND DAVID GANDY - A CELEBRATION!

So Saturday in Milan becomes David Gandy day, with a host of events to celebrate the collaboration between Dolce&Gabbana and the man himself...

Dolce&Gabbana will celebrate their collaboration with David Gandy with a series of events on Saturday June 18th:

2.00 pm – Metropol, viale Piave 24: SS 2012 Men’s Show. By invitation only.

4.30 pm – from Metropol to piazza Duomo. David Gandy, as a star in a modern version of the Dolce Vita, will get into a vintage black Triumph and will speed towards piazza Duomo.

5.00 pm - La Rinascente, piazza Duomo. David Gandy, who has been the spokesmodel of the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue fragrance since 2007, will meet the fans.

6.30 pm -  Dolce & Gabbana Women’s Boutique, via Spiga 26. David and his friends will go for a walk along Via Della Spiga, and will reach the Dolce&Gabbana boutique, where a presentation of a limited edition of t-shirts portraying David - with pictures by Mariano Vivanco - takes place. David will stop and sign the t-shirts for the fans who might want him to. Part of the proceeds will go to support the association “Amici del gabinetto disegni e stampe degli Uffizi” – Project EUPLOOS.

9.00 pm - Dolce & Gabbana Men’s Boutique, corso Venezia 13. Launch party for the book David Gandy by Dolce&Gabbana, published by Rizzoli, which will be available for purchase from that day. By invitation only.

Nomen Omen, the latin phrase which literally means “the fate in the name”, might be the best starting point to describe this book, which is entirely dedicated to the life, successes and passions of the man and model David Gandy: his initials, DG, for a strange coincidence, are in fact the very same of Dolce&Gabbana.

The book retraces the fundamental steps of this young David Gandy's career: from his very first moments in the fashion world, to the advertising campaign of the fragrance “Light Blue”, shot by Mario Testino, up to articulate the model’s connection with Dolce&Gabbana through the pictures Steven Klein dedicated to him during the advertising campaigns.

The volume has also been enriched with new images shot exclusively for this project by Mariano Vivanco, the photographer whose camera had already captured David Gandy’s sensuality and erotic charge to perfection for an iconic calendar, back in 2008.

The proceeds will go to support the association “Amici del Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe degli Uffizi” - Project EUPLOOS. The project was born out of an initiative by the Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe of the Uffizi (GDSU) – Soprintendenza Speciale per il Polo Museale of the City of Florence, in collaboration with the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz Max-Planck- Institut and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. Project EUPLOOS aims to put online the entire collection of the GDSU by creating a complete, accessible computerized catalogue.
