HIROYUKI MATSUURA CREATES SPECIAL SET FOR SWATCH WATCHES

Swatch has been working closely with leading international artists for more than 25 years. Together, these artists and Swatch have created ‘art for the wrist’ by combining avant-garde artistic creativity with advanced watch making technology. Today, Swatch is pleased to present new work by the noted Japanese artist, Hiroyuki Matsuura.

Born in Tokyo, Hiroyuki Matsuura worked as a graphic designer before a solo exhibition in 2005 kick-started his career as an artist. Today he works in the variety of formats—painting, sculpture and limited edition multiples—in Japan and abroad. His colourful characters seem to speak directly to the view, and his work on ‘the world’s smallest canvas’ for Swatch has the same bold, larger-than-life dimension. His characters may live in a fictional world, but they seem entirely familiar to us, intimate friends and fellow travellers in space.

For the SWATCH & ART Collection, Hiroyuki Matsuura has designed six New Gents, which Swatch has made available as a specially packaged set in a strictly limited and numbered edition of 777 pieces (SUOZS01). The watches by Hiroyuki Matsuura are also sold individually in an unlimited edition.
