BLK DNM "Freedom" Film | Dorothea Barth Jorgensen in FW13

"With the FW13 film, I wanted to reflect on this persistent thought I've had in my head lately.. While strong women are the enduring inspiration for BLK DNM, I've been thinking a lot about what it means to use that strength to be independent, to go your own way.. The film shows Dorothea rebelling against something that has held her back.. Maybe she's just finished a long relationship, and escapes to this old manor out in the country with just her thoughts, books and paint.. Alone, she frees herself.. Through her artistic expression, she learns to follow only her true intuition.. For me, that is BLK DNM.."

BLK DNM LAUNCHES LUXURY LEATHER JACKET PROJECT

BLK DNM Founder and Creative Director Johan Lindeberg announces the launch of his latest special project, to feature a limited-edition selection of jackets in textured luxury Italian leather and shearling fur combinations, stitched piece-by-piece in New York City’s garment district. The jackets will be available exclusively at BLK DNM in New York and Stockholm, and at Colette in Paris.

While the classic BLK DNM leather jacket---part of the brand’s core product---offers quality cut and finish with democratic pricing (starting at $895), this project introduces a newer extension of the brand, which includes custom, made-to-measure and locally sourced and produced high-end pieces. The project reinforces BLK DNM's dynamic price structure between the contemporary and luxury markets.

"I've built BLK DNM as a creative project, rather than just another fashion brand, to explore initiatives like this one. I like that we can take one of our core products, the leather jacket, and create an exclusive edition for a high-end capsule collection that still fits with the brand identity. So a classic BLK DNM Leather Jacket 8 can hang beside the limited-edition, luxury leather, made-to-measure piece in a store just as it would in the BLK DNM woman's wardrobe," Lindeberg says.

Each of the jackets in the eight-piece collection is designed with a distinct, strong, feminine personality. Highlights include a super-matte black lambskin, paired with a soft, black lamb suede and a military-green, croc-embossed lambskin.

"I'm always inspired by independent, intelligent women with strong self identities, and wanted to reflect those different personalities with this project. Each leather jacket combines a unique pairing of leather textures and colors, as well as shearling fur variations, to present a strong character, each to speak to a different woman," Lindeberg says.

Limited quantities of each style will be available for purchase. Sales will begin with pre-order only, beginning Friday, November 30, at the BLK DNM NYC store. The jackets will retail at $3495 and $3995.
