MR PORTER supports Father & Son Day

MRPORTER.COM, the award-winning global online retail destination for men’s style, is pleased to announce their partnership with new charity initiative Father and Son Day to raise funds for cancer treatment at the world-famous The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. For a week from 18th June two stories on the weekly magazine The Journal will highlight the initiative and will link to a specially curated selection of an essential for every man; the blue shirt. All profits from every shirt sold will be donated to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Set up by Daniel Marks and Jack Dyson, both of whom have survived testicular cancer, Father and Son Day aims to get men talking to each other by asking them to post photographs on Instagram – with the hashtag #fatherandsonday – of themselves alongside their fathers, sons, friends and male mentors. In conjunction with this social activity, the campaign will raise money for London’s world-renowned cancer research and treatment centre, The Royal Marsden.

Specifically they are looking to raise funds for specialist child and family psychologists and for a fellowship programme in robotic surgery. The Robotic Surgical Fellowship is a truly pioneering programme which will transform the way cancer operations are carried out, and their outcomes, by funding the training of the next generation of robotic surgeons. The second project is more general, but no less essential - a programme that funds clinical psychologists, providing support to young men affected by cancer, giving them tools to communicate and cope with their cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Social media will play a part and the campaign will run across both @FatherandSonDay and @MRPORTERLIVE which includes a Text number for donations.

“We are pleased to be able to support Father and Son Day which we hope will raise awareness of the support available to men suffering or affected by cancer. We feel it is important for men to feel able to have awareness of the services available to them and to know that they need not suffer alone.”

Ian Tansley, Managing Director, MR PORTER
