Crep Protect and Adidas commission mural with artist Virginia Ben

Sneaker Artist Virginia Ben creates original artwork for Crep Protect and Adidas 

Manchester based artist, Virginia Ben was recently commissioned to design a mural by rain and stain repellent shoe spray company, Crep Protect, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Adidas Superstar trainer.

Virginia Ben, known for his original artwork on sneakers and accessories,created the art installation live during the Crep Protect x Adidas Christmas party earlier in December.

Jason Black, co-founder and director of Crep Protect, discovered Ben’s work through the social network, Instagram and the two began speaking after Jason discovered that Ben uses Crep Protect to safeguard his sneakers after he customized them, meaning that people are able to wear his artwork out and about without fear of ruining them.  

Black comments, “I’d noticed Ben’s work for a while on Instagram and when I found out he used Crep Protect as part of his creative process, I reached out.   We discussed the possibility of him creating an original piece of art for us - and the Adidas party seemed like a natural fit as we always like to have an element of art and innovation in everything we do.  It was a really nice touch to have Ben creating live at the party and watch the piece develop right in front of us.”

Ben adds “I’ve used Crep Protect to protect my art work for a long time so was really excited to work with them on this project - the party was a great success and I’m really pleased with the end result.” 

Although Virginia Ben’s career is is just beginning, he is very much on the rise and has been lauded for the outstanding finish and originality to his work.  Ben has previously worked with the likes of Liberty’s and Selfridges, having his creations exhibited in flagship stores across the UK. 

Crep Protect is a hydrophobic solution which uses revolutionary nanotechnology technology to  create an invisible, protective barrier that prevents rain and stains from damaging footwear.  Treated surfaces will repel most liquids and this durable treatment can last for approximately two weeks. The companywas set up by Jason Black and his business partner Imran Ahmed in 2012.  The pair travelled to Germany to work on developing the product.
