Hennessy Gold Cup 2014




M. Maurice Hennessy & Jo Thornton host the 58th Hennessy Gold Cup
  

Saturday 29th November 2014 - The coveted Hennessy Gold Cup trophy, the longest standing sport sponsorship in the world, was presented to Oliver Sherwood for winning horse Many Clouds, ridden by Grand National-Winning rider Leighton Aspell, winner of the 58th Hennessy Gold Cup steeplechase at the Racecourse Newbury.

M. Maurice Hennessy welcomed guests at Saturday’s 58th Hennessy Gold Cup at The Racecourse Newbury in Berkshire; the most exciting and glamorous race day of the winter season and part of the three day Hennessy Heritage Festival.

An impressive list of luminaries from the worlds of Film, TV, Theatre, Music and Business came together to celebrate this iconic occasion taking in the races from their vantage point on the balcony of the Fred Winter Suite which this year brought the magic of autumn inside with a quirky British woodland forest and life size tree setting the sumptuous scene.  

Special guest & War Child Ambassador, Carey Mulligan – arrived just in time to join the VIP guests in the Parade ring ahead of the Gold Cup race, where she mingled with owners and jockeys.  Carey attended fresh from hosting her first War Child fundraiser on Thursday nightwhere they raised in excess of £300,000 for the charity!

Guests enjoyed warming Hennessy Hot Chocolates topped with delectable salted caramel cream, the Hennessy Winter Tea using Earl Grey and black cherry jam plus the racegoers favourite: The Hennessy Horse’s Neck, made with Fine de Cognac topped up with ginger ale and orange zest.

Breakfast, lunch and tea included duck egg Florentine, slow roast belly of Berkshire pork, Hennessy winter berry trifle, Hennessy X.O tart and the afternoon tea favourite: Hennessy X.O Victoria Sponge, Jersey cream & raspberry preserve.
