GIORGIO ARMANI PRESENTS THE WORLD PREMIERE OF FILMS OF CITY FRAMES IN TORONTO

Giorgio Armani proudly announces sponsorship of The Toronto International Film Festival 2014. Roberta Armani and Academy Award winning producer and director Edward Zwick will host the world premiere of Films of City Frames, a project involving six international film schools, followed by an exclusive cocktail party to celebrate the occasion.

Giorgio Armani are pleased to announce the world premiere of Films of City Frames, Giorgio Armani’s initiative to connect with the world of cinema through the rich fictional universe built around Frames of Life.

Giorgio Armani continues his legacy of supporting emerging talent in various forms of the cultural arts, from fashion to cinema, with this comprehensive joint project. Films of City Frames, created in collaboration with Luxottica and Rai Cinema, is a project that Giorgio Armani feels passionately about. The initiative involves the work of the following prestigious international schools:

NYU, Tisch School of the Arts  (NYC)

USC, School of Cinematic Arts  (LA)

NFTS, National Film and Television School  (London)

Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia  (Rome)

Esra, Ecole Supérieure de Réalisation  (Paris)

The Hong Kong Academy of the Performing Arts  (Hong Kong)

The students were given the task of creating short films that feature caught moments, metropolitan landscapes, and emotional situations, using Giorgio Armani’s Frames of Life glasses as a perceptual filter. Eyewear becomes synonymous with point of view, an instrument used to emphasize and express feelings, to tell stories of special encounters and urban adventures.

Giorgio Armani announces: "It is exciting to place this aspiring filmmakers' project alongside the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival -- which has long been a launching pad for so many important global films. TIFF and Toronto are both world class. Bringing young formative cinema talent to Toronto is in perfect focus for me."

The short films, a visual and narrative collage capturing the never-ending beauty of each contemporary metropolis through a series of unique points of view, will be presented at The St Lawrence Centre for the Arts in Toronto on September 6th at 11am with a private screening followed by a panel discussion moderated by Imran Amed, Founder and Editor in Chief of The Business of Fashion, the influential online editorial platform that will be the media partner for the event.

Giorgio Armani has chosen Toronto as the host city for the premiere screening of Films of City Frames as it is integral to the project's educational focus that it be showcased in a vibrant, diverse international city.

Toronto, with its keen interest in the art of cinema, its tremendous opportunities for emerging artists and new filmmakers, and its unique position in the milieu of film culture, was the perfect city to host the premiere of this series of short films. It is the intention that the city of Toronto, and its burgeoning film community, will also play an important role in the Films of City Frames educational project going forward.

The screening will be followed by an exclusive cocktail party hosted by Roberta Armani and by Academy Award winning producer and director Edward Zwick taking over the iconic CN Tower from 8pm to 11pm, with Mark Ronson - DJ set.
