Christian Blanken debut Mens collection for SS13

Christian Blanken continues to add to his signature label, with the launch in June 2012, of his Men’s SS 13 capsule collection during the debut MENS Collections week showing in London. The Men’s collection will continue to profile clean, sharp tailoring, sport luxe garments and athletic wear with an edgy toughness in symmetry with the Women’s main collection.

Classic fabrics like ,soft jersey, lightweight tropical wool and cotton gabardine suits and coats feature, alongside stretch cotton shirting and printed beach wear as well as a few stand out items in leather and suede.

Solid as well as yarn dye shirts layered over nude mesh jersey tanks as well as matte and titanium sequined pieces add depth and counterbalance the rigour of the tailoring. Inspired by his writing and research for a forthcoming book entitled DECADES OF SPORTSWEAR the Menswear collection is also naturally heavily inspired by this subject.

The strictly edited colour palette is built on a base of black and white and a range of greys mixed with nude and titanium.

For this debut Men’s collection Christian Blanken has directed a mini short film which explores the effect of clothing and the male image and takes its visual reference from the pioneering film noir directors Alfred Hitchcock and Bruce La Bruce, a short film allows the collection to be shown in a highly visual format conveying the form, fit and versatility of Blanken’s Men’s designs.
