SMYTHSON IN BLOOM

Smythson celebrates Chelsea in Bloom

Smythson is delighted to take part in this year’s Chelsea in Bloom art show celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a floral tribute to the tastemakers of the era of Her Majesty’s Coronation.

Designed as an extension of our latest windows created in collaboration with British illustrator Kerry Lemon, our display recreates a quintessential English Rose garden, inspired by the photography of Cecil Beaton and the innovative style and colour palette used by royal florist Constance Spry.

Using hydrangeas, begonias and a variety of roses, soft shades of cream and pink are contrasted with touches of greenery, to produce a structured display reminiscent of Regent’s Park Rose Garden and the mazes of Hampton Court Palace.

Echoing the illustrations in our Jubilee windows, our Chelsea in Bloom floral display adds a complementary layer to the installation, giving a playful take on our English heritage and a whimsical homage to the Diamond Jubilee.
