Several nominees, presenters and guests of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards were dressed by Giorgio Armani. The show took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and was broadcast live yesterday evening, January 15, 2012, on NBC at 5pm PST.
Best actress nominee Glenn Close wore a custom designed navy blue velvet Giorgio Armani Privé evening gown. The strapless dress featured a crystal-embedded bust detail and falls into front and back velvet panels. The gown is cushioned by a flowing pleated chiffon underskirt that peeks out at the hem and through dramatic side slits. The look was completed with a matching velvet bolero that outlined the shoulders and featured oversized satin cuffs on three-quarter length sleeves. She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role in “Albert Nobbs.”
Best actress nominee Jodie Foster wore a Mediterranean teal-colored custom designed Giorgio Armani gown. The dress is covered by dramatic all-over beading and features an intricate border that combines rosettes and multi-bead patterns. The strapless corset has a structured crescent-shaped bustier. The cinched waist gathers into a beaded side ruffle, which follows the length of the skirt. She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress -- Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her work in the feature film “Carnage.” Charlie Foster accompanied his mother to the Golden Globes. He wore an Emporio Armani one-button peak lapel tuxedo with a white evening shirt and a black necktie.
Best actress nominee Elizabeth McGovern wore a deep forest green silk evening gown from the Giorgio Armani 2012 Pre-Collection. The capped sleeve silhouette is bias-cut. The upper bodice is encrusted with sparkling paillettes. She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in “Downton Abbey.”
Best actress nominee Emily Watson wore a blush pink sleeveless silk gown with a square neckline and wide-banded waistline that features inverted pleats. The look was completed with a three-tiered pink crystal beaded necklace from the Giorgio Armani Accessories Collection. She was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in “Appropriate Adult.”
Film producer and creative director of http://www.eco-age.com/ Livia Firth wore a custom designed Giorgio Armani gown. The black strapless column dress featured a bodice composed of horizontal strips of fabric, highlighted by contrasting white piping. The train is made of geometrical pleats doubled with a floral print in ivory tones. The gown follows the principles of the Green Carpet Challenge, which was created by Ms. Firth, the wife of Academy Award winning actor Colin Firth.
Attendee Nora Arnezeder chose to wear a black form-fitting Giorgio Armani gown that follows a mermaid silhouette cascading into a dramatic train. The dress is accentuated by a satin twist at the bust and sheer black illusion long sleeves. The French actress will star in the upcoming feature, “Safe House,” opposite Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.
Actress Dakota Johnson (“21 Jump Street”) wore a black long-sleeved Giorgio Armani gown, featuring a high neckline and Mandarin collar, detailed with three small knotted ties across the décolleté. The daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson was Miss Golden Globe in 2006.
Actress Francis Fisher selected a Giorgio Armani vintage blue and silver metallic tiger-print gown. The form-fitting dress features a scoop neckline and spaghetti straps. Ms. Fisher attended the ceremony with Morgan Freeman, who was presented with the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award.
George Clooney wore a Giorgio Armani classic tuxedo. He was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture -- Drama for "The Descendants.” He was also nominated for Best Director -- Motion Picture and Best Screenplay -- Motion Picture for "The Ides of March."
Leonardo DiCaprio wore wear a Giorgio Armani two-button peak lapel tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a black bow tie. He was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture -- Drama for his work in "J. Edgar."
Michael Fassbender wore an Emporio Armani midnight blue one-button peak lapel suit with a classic white shirt and a navy neck tie. He was nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture -- Drama for his work in "Shame."
Director Martin Scorsese wore a Giorgio Armani midnight blue two-button notch lapel wool and cashmere tuxedo with a classic white evening shirt and a midnight blue bow tie. He was nominated for Best Director -- Motion Picture for "Hugo."
Director Pedro Almodovar wore a classic Giorgio Armani suit. His movie "The Skin I Live In" is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.
Robert De Niro wore a classic Giorgio Armani tuxedo and presented the Cecil B. DeMille Award to Morgan Freeman.
Mark Wahlberg wore a Giorgio Armani midnight blue two-button peak lapel wool and cashmere tuxedo with a pleat front evening shirt and a midnight blue bow tie. Wahlberg is an executive producer of the HBO series "Boardwalk Empire," which is nominated in the category Best Television Series -- Drama.
Presenter Clive Owen selected a Giorgio Armani two-button notch lapel tuxedo with a classic white evening shirt and a black bow tie.
Grant Heslov wore a Giorgio Armani two-button peak lapel tuxedo with a classic evening shirt and a black bow tie. He was nominated for Best Screenplay -- Motion Picture for "The Ides of March."
Cory Monteith, who stars in "Glee," selected a Giorgio Armani two-button notch lapel tuxedo with a classic shirt and a black neck tie. "Glee" was nominated for Best Television Series -- Comedy or Musical.
