Jil Sander Men’s Spring/Summer 2011

A celebration of colour, electrified, saturated and pure – brighter than ever before. With no gradation.

The positive fluorescence of tropical nature inspires an effortless summer wardrobe. Energized, vibrant and intense, the Jil Sander menswear takes a clear and precise direction in cut and shape. A play of colours with no restriction renews the heritage of Jil Sander tailoring and creates an unpredictable collage of proportions. Colours are freely layered and combined to underline the outlook of each silhouette leading to a multitude of “individual uniforms”.

Light voluminous coats float over jackets paired with slim tailored pants or pleated shorts. Trenchcoats are belted, colourfully taped and pleated on the back. The jackets, either precisely fitted or oversized, partially reveal the long vests worn underneath. Double-breasted blazers in light techno taffeta juxtapose tailoring elements with simplified comfort. The extreme colour palette subverts the traditional codes of suiting. Short suits bring a relaxed ease to the formal.

Compact weaving techniques add structure to dense monochromatic knitwear. Multi-coloured stripes traced on pullovers with partially deplaced shoulder lines.

Colours as a language. The vividness of geranium, poppy, fuchsia, camellia, amaryllis, bulrush, viola, iris, lyme-grass and daffodil identifies the garments, even evolving into a collage of floral prints.

The texture of flowers is also mirrored in the lightness of the materials, rich in pigments and with a subtle crisp hand. Engineered fabrics and advanced techniques add to the cottons a slight glistening, enhancing the colour to its maximum brightness.

The shoes injected with an industrial gloss on the sole, conjugates the theme of colour with the stately solidness of formal lace-ups.
