New Scottish Designer Aymee Charlton Launces Website Launches

Aberdeen Designer Aymee Charlton Launches Online

Young designer Aymee Charlton prepared to launch her inaugural collection THREE. The exclusive website launch of http://www.aymeecharlton.co.uk/ sees the collection go live Thursday 9th of July with it available to buy there and then online from 7pm.

Moving away from a model of fast fashion, Charlton is inspired by her surroundings in the North East of Scotland. Used creating organic material, it was important for Charlton to take an ethical approach to design and being able to trace where everything was from down to the smallest details. With a mix of organic cottons, boiled wool and bamboo fabric - most of the pieces have been kept in their natural state, while those that have been dyed have been done so using natural dying processes using organic colurants.

The collection is defined by her use of oversized silhouettes that have been designed to change shape and size with the pull of a drawstring.  Her collection has been created with versatility in mind so it can be worn on different parts of the body.  With a magpie like source of influences as varied as the natural raw coastlines and Yohji Yamamato and Vika Gazinskaya, her muted palette has a fresh and naturalistic feel.

Charlton can’t wait to share her passion for ethical design - “I have designed an oversized, comfortable ready to wear collection for women and men using as many organic materials as possible, even down to the thread I used! I wanted to know exactly where my fabrics were coming from and wanted to take a more ethical approach to designing this collection. “

Charlton’s collection will be available to order from her site from 9th of July 2015 with prices starting from £20 for accessories and £75 for her mainline collection.

Award Winning Salon BLOW create campaign for  Braid Bar

From the salon that brought you Glitter Roots sassy enough to inspire Miley Cyrus gives you a sassy selection of the best braids. Scottish salon BLOW have done it again, creating a braid bar menu that will give even the most dexterous of people a run for their money. As a world divided by those who can and those who can’t braid, sometimes you really need the hands of a professional to take you from basic bitch to bad ass.

When it comes to braiding, there's nothing more simple or classic than the three strand plait. Though the style is a go-to time after time, we have to admit, it can look dated when it's up against say the fishtail, lobster or straight up French. That’s why BLOW gave the classic braid an edgy update by adding colour and piecings to the braid brigade. No pain, all gain.

Shot by the photographer that captured Glitter Roots, Glaswegian Christina Marie Riley captured the braids using film, within the BLOW salon in Finnieston, Glasgow with some of BLOW’s most familiar faces.

Alexa Chung for AG ¦ Available at www.avenue32.com

Fall brings the second instalment of AG’s successful collaboration with British style icon Alexa Chung, and the season’s increased selection evolves beyond the denim focus that defined the Alexa Chung for AG debut.

Inspired by an imaginary—and impeccably dressed—girl gang kicking up dust in the desert, the new collection boasts an expanded variety of separates in elevated materials, perfect for building the day to- night wardrobe. “It’s an evolution”, says Chung of the AW15 collection. “The first collection was very focused and stripped back, I challenged myself to create an essential denim wardrobe. With the second collection it was more about exploring where else we could take it.” Texture variety is key, with rich suede and sumptuous corduroy in the mix with denim, chambray, and broken twill.

Outerwear is a new addition to the collaboration. The vintage-inspired Walker coat makes a statement in black suede with contrast embroidery at the neckline and sleeves. Meanwhile, the Hitt shrunken jacket makes the ideal casual layer in hardy broken twill that promises to look even better with everyday wear.

The collection will be available from July 23rd at www.avenue32.com

Gyo Yuni Kimchoe - Pre-Spring 2016

Gyo Yuni Kimchoe present their pre-spring 2016 collection in collaboration with the British Fashion Council in their boost to bring the concept of pre collections to London.

Staying true to their utilitarian silhouettes, this collection is a lot lighter than their seasonal collections with easy wear separates and a plethora of fabrications from distressed denim and linen. Inspiration is an insight to their SS16 collection toying with the idea of Enlightened Rebels and combining Buddhism with British rebel culture. With key outwear pieces but also simple tailored looks, Gyo and Yuni pay close attention to detail using Asian collar details and Zen buttons, hinting back to the Buddhist theme.
