THE DRIPPING DIAMOND VARSITY JACKET FROM RIVER ISLAND

At the moment Ive been busy sorting out my winter wardrobe and the main things for me trousers, shoes and scarves these are the things people generally see first during the colder months when they see, look at you or in most cases these days check you out ..... you can hide under these ... with the exception  which is not unless your going out for the evening and the coat and scarf has to come off ... but for dress down fall days which seems to have come early in the UK you cant go wrong with a varsity jacket ... I have many but its always nice to get a new one every season that will last and you will be able to wear for at least a couple of years ... hence this hot one from River Island .... comes in a few colours Ive featured the red and the navy and its a great price only £35 and its good for a fresh look or to add to what you already have in your wardrobe..... with the right Varsity jacket it does not only have to be worn on dress down days it can be styled for a night out also ... that's why I'm a stylist and this is a stylists dream ... you can do so much with it!

It's a matter of fact that for AW 12 the collar is to play a big part of our wardrobes... they can be picked up from just about everywhere... Topshop, River Island and so on ... but for me the best ones are from Marni, Karl By Karl Lagerfeld and 3.1 Philip Lim

River Island introduces Life of Tailor

River Island has introduced Life of Tailor, a new collection of classic men's suits and shirts. Formal design classics are at the heart of the collection, including the slim grey three-piece suit with notch lapels, double-breasted black suits along with houndstooth and contrast collar shirts. Details within the range include Italian-sourced cloths and linings in paisley and polka dot. In contrast to the smart classics, the range also houses a herringbone Crombie coat with contrast collar, inspired by 50s and 60s subculture. The collection is expected in-store from October, with prices starting at £150 for a full suit.

River Island to launch Holloway Road collection

River Island is introducing Holloway Road next month, a new contemporary menswear collection. Inspired by Japanese techniques, a range of high-quality washes from the distressed skinny fit to the classic raw wash will be available, as well as tailoring classics such as the charcoal two-piece suit which has been modernised with subtle design features. Outerwear pieces include original design features like the button-down epilates of the check wool overcoat (pictured here) through to heavy contrast panelling in the hooded raincoat. Footwear includes the thick soled Holloway boot alongside the two-tone wing tip brogue in a more muted neutral colour palette and formal design. The collection takes its name from the location of the first shop River Island’s founder Bernard Lewis opened in 1948. The range will be available in selected stores and online from September.

Rihanna designs fashion collection for River Island

High-street fashion store River Island has unveiled an exclusive collaboration with recording artist Rihanna. The singer will be designing her first clothing collection for River Island, which will launch in Spring 2013.

Rihanna says: ‘I’ve been wanting to design my own collection for some time. River Island is the perfect partner for me to collaborate with and working with a British, family run business also really appealed to me. I find London really inspiring and River Island loves to have fun with clothes. I’m looking forward to working with them and creating something really special.’

River Island collaborates with William Tempest for AW12

River Island Design Forum returns for AW12, with a collection of specially commissioned pieces created by William Tempest. William’s exclusive range for River Island draws inspiration from ancient Egyptian mythology, 1920's interiors and the work of M. C. Escher. Key pieces from the collection of eveningwear separates and accessories, include a sequinned chiffon shirt dress, an art-deco plunge back column dress and laser cut heels. Black and nude fabrics with opaque contrasts feature heavily alongside textiles designed exclusively for the collection, including a tessellated design and a geometric art deco pattern. The scarab beetle, a symbol of wealth and power for ancient Egyptians, acts as a motif which runs throughout the range via prints and finishes. The collection will make its debut via a short film at London Fashion Week's second biannual festival. FASH/ON FILM, an initiative devised by the British Fashion Council in conjunction with River Island, aiming to support and develop creative film in the industry. The 13 piece collection will be available in selected River Island stores and online at riverisland.com from October.

River Island to open first ever accessories & footwear standalone

River Island has announced the arrival of its first ever standalone accessories and footwear store in Nottingham. Launching on 26 November, the shop will contain the brand's most directional accessories designs to date. Trading on an area space of 1721 sq ft, the new store will stock footwear, bags, hats, scarves, sunglasses and jewellery for women. Jewellery is priced from £5, bags from £15, footwear from £25 and scarves and hats from £8.
