Gemma Arterton chose to wear a two tone, light grey and black, lace camisole gown from Antonio Berardi’s Resort 2013 collection to the premiere of her new film "Byzantium" at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival in Toronto on Sunday the 9th of September 2012.

Taking its cue from the originality and creativity typically displayed at Berlin's Bread and Butter, G-Star RAW previewed its Autumn/Winter 2012 collection with an innovative RAW art performance, creating the unexpected combination of a fashion show with contemporary dance.


The show, based on a performance of Dutch choreographer and modern dance ambassador Conny Janssen, was re-choreographed into a twelve minute art performance with the professional dancers all wearing pieces from the G-Star Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.

As you have most likely seen, G-Star’s new face for the Spring/Summer 2012 campaign is fast rising French actress Clémence Poésy who introduced the RAW art performance. She also sat front row along with German celebrity Cosma Shiva Hagen

G-Star recently teamed up with Vice Style for their fourth collaborative film to celebrate G-Star's ongoing relationship with Gemma Arterton, as she fronts the brands womenswear for a second season. In this installment, Kim Taylor-Bennett flies out to Berlin to meet the actress at G-Star's Bread & Butter show, a trade fair event for contemporary clothing culture. Kim chats to Gemma on G-Star's RAW Ferry 01 - a tricked-out boat that looks more plush than anywhere any of the Vice Style staff live.

NY Fashion Week With Gemma Arterton.

Vice Style discovered that Gemma Arterton’s assured, independent style and authentic femininity perfectly embody the modern G-Star woman and underscore the theme of RAW Elegance. Gemma told us: ‘I feel like a tough girl in a fancy frock sometimes, and I think G-Star is the same. I like the contradiction between glamour and durability. Sometimes people are shocked when they meet me because of this contradiction.’

Their selection for G-Star RAW’s A/W 2011 womenswear campaign, 24-year-old British actress Gemma Arterton, is maybe a bit less controversial, but the company’s reasoning is just as insightful. Gemma is, on the surface, a super-glamorous actress who often plays 'posh', yet in reality she was brought up by her single parent mum, a cleaner. This contradiction makes sense when you consider that G-Star RAW's campaign theme is RAW Elegance.

Iconic rock photographer and video director Anton Corbijn—who directed Joy Division biopic Control—shot the Arterton campaign. G-Star has also made a series of films to mark the launch of the campaign and Arterton’s leading role. This second film in the series, G-Star RAW New York Fashion Week, was shot at G-Star’s NY RAW A/W 2011 show at New York Fashion Week. The film features the runway show and includes backstage interviews with Gemma Arterton, Rosario Dawson, and Jared Leto, and footage of G-Star’ RAW's high-end 3D denim collection with people like Gemma Arterton, Magnus Carlsen, Rosario Dawson, Chris Hemsworth, Elsa Pataky, Jared Leto, Mena Suvari, Yaya DaCosta, Danny Flaherty, Kiko Mizuhara and Sofia Black D’Elia on the front row.
