MY THOUGHTS - Loewe Fall Winter 2018/2019

I absolutely love Loewe FW 18 for both men and women and recently as a creature of comfort I have decided to broaden my horizons and try different brands as you may have noticed on my Instagram.... no more just Gucci or Dolce but in comes Balenciaga, Givenchy, Costume National, Marni to name a few ..... I've supported brands for years and in some cases over 20 years and know the designers but after all this time and changes in PR I am no longer desired or needed so I'm taking my hard earned cash from Top Model and spending it elsewhere.... and leaving it to the millenials who said designers collections are aimed at ... good luck with that they have no money........ I have different style to Bryanboy maybe because of age or I'm not as adventurous but he is one of the only bloggers I follow and I love watching the way he puts outfits together and he's been wearing alot of Loewe and it's made me pay attention to the brand even though they have been heavily featured over the years on my blog but now I feel I want to take the plunge and start wearing what I write about instead of just sticking to brands I have been wearing for many years .....

for now here's the FW 18 womenswear show and you can see what I'm on about and let me know as always your thoughts.....

Manhattan Knights F/W 18 Presentation

Manhattanknights derives from and is inspired by a deep love for New York, its culture, its people and its humor.  ManhattanKnights' current collection is also inspired by adolescence – particularly the designers. I hearkens back to times spent in New York City at the turn of the millennium.  References to popular styles and statements prevalent in that period are re-invented for the "now" generation. The Manhattanknights person imagined as taking apart their prep school wardrobe and refitting it to suit today's world.  What would those millennial-articulated fabrics, styles and designs look like today?

THE LOOKS AND MY VIEWS - RICHARD MALONE FW 18 #LFW

Marta Jakubowski FW 18 #LFW

’It’s all about my woman. She exists somewhere in my head and is growing every season’
‘I'm every woman, it's all in me Anything you want done, baby, I'll do it naturally’
Recall the video for Whitney Houston’s ‘I’m every woman’? Her sassy smile and pregnant belly. For AW18, Marta Jakubowski celebrates women - our versatility, complexity, ambition and physicality - in a collection that evokes the early nineties, the days of shoulders and waists; The Bodyguard, Turlington and Crawford, all through the lense of her layered aesthetic.
The collection is both celebratory of womanhood and reflective, paying homage to the sartorial choices of Marta’s late mother - the professional dress, and longline cashmere coat - and her own childhood clothes, loved and long-lost.
Marta’s personal trajectory towards womanhood is mirrored in her aesthetic evolution, from the vibrant draped tailoring and cut-out pieces of past seasons, to this season’s adaptable mix & match separates, party dresses and reconstructed trouser suits - a little bit grown-up, a little bit business. Layering techniques embrace the female form, while multiway fastenings offer us choices, and therefore power, and the trouser dominates.
For the Marta Jakubowski woman, ambition and sexuality are not mutually exclusive, so jacket lapels are cut low and dresses offer subtle reveals. She acknowledges our complexities - soft cashmere suiting is contrasted with denim cotton; roomy fits oppose pinched-in waists. While a colour palette of mint, lilac, evergreen and taupe is juxtaposed with brilliant red and colour clashing tartan. Marta knows her woman and revisits signature pieces - the trouser skirt with tulle under-layer and the seam split jean.
The cool and driven sensibility of the Jakubowski girl is reflected in the designer’s long-term collaborations with the likes of stylist Tati Cotliar and knitwear designer Helen Lawrence; while new additions this season include casting by Henry Thomas who has sought out girls with suitably strong personalities for Ryan Chappell’s choreography, and a soundtrack by Mimi Xu. For AW18, Marta Jakubowski is happy to have partnered with Jimmy Choo on footwear.
AW18’s spectrum of bold silhouettes, curves and clashing tones are uncompromising and speaks of our versatility. Now sing ‘I'm every woman, I'm every woman’

WATCH IT NOW - KENZO MEN & WOMEN FW 18 #PFW

"Working on collections for KENZO over the years, we find ourselves permanently provoked to picture life through the prism of culture, people and happenings. One of the most influential inspirations for us is cinema. The plethora of characters and personalities that can be evoked, portrayed and ultimately retained in our psyche is fascinating to us. For Fall-Winter 2018 we present a collection celebrating the various on-screen strong women and men who have engrossed or enthralled us with their style and spirit.
For women’s we meander through the traditional and the technical, exposing a collection brimming with dusty colors and vibrant prints. Silk satin cherry blossom jacquard dresses are worn alongside modernized twinsets in transparent nylon knits. Pencil skirts in silk are over-the-knee with front slits. Rich micro-pleated velvet dresses and skirts in an archival floral print come ruched. Tweed cargo pants, oversized pea coats and bustier dresses are matched with washed cotton canvas “movie poster” tee shirts, dresses and culottes. Dresses in “coat lining” inspired silk fabrics pair with wool bouclé coats in lilac or camel.
The men’s collection fuses the heritage and modern by twisting classics and clashing prints and colors. A boxy silhouette pervades and skinny pants run the gamut of fabrics. Waxed cotton trenches appear in traditional colors and a pop turquoise. Reflective flock print fabrics are used on technical nylon vests or trousers. Zip-up nylon blousons with floral jacquards partner with heavy wool molleton double faced duffels. Typical bomber jackets are lengthened and leather pieces appear in the shape of beaten up cardigans. Iridescent tailoring bursts through an already vivid color palette.
Accessories for women are spun from the same wheel as their ready-to-wear counterparts. Classic “frame” evening bags come in two sizes and feature fabrics in dust colored silk jacquards or transparent floral beading. Men’s bags take shape through cross body metallic souvenir pouches or bonded box bags in a deep blues or reds. Mini-flasks, lighter holders, cigarette cases and ear-bud cases hang from the waist.
Both men’s and women’s shoes share asymmetric soles with men’s appearing as brushed spazzolato or python boots and mocassins. For women’s, a more elegant allure stems from mary-jane, sling-back or stiletto boots recalling the collection’s fabrics of transparent nylon or silk jacquard."
