KIRKS ORIGINALS LAUNCH PARTY

When: 27th January
Where: Kirks Original Flagship store, Conduit Street, London

After conducting a great interview with Jason Kirk, I was invited along on the 27th for the official launch party of the new flagship store in London.
Myself, Jason Kirk and Prince Cassius

It was truly a memorable event with guests sipping on wines and cocktails, also having the chance to view the full Kirk's collection and mingle.  It was great to meet Jason and Karen Kirk who were full of beans with the turnout which included notable members of society, singing stars and of course the fashion pack.  The store looked gorgeous if not quite full with a big turn out but this did not seem to deter the guests who enjoyed music to set the mood whilst trying on the collection.

Overall a great night was had by all, it was my first party after taking a month off after Christmas but it was a great way to start.

Double thumbs up from the Clotheshorse!! I can only see Kirk's who are well established all over world getting bigger and bigger.......

"CLOTHESHORSE EXCLUSIVE" INTERVIEW WITH JASON KIRK MD OF KIRK ORIGINALS

Last week I was privileged to be offered to the opportunity to interview Jason Kirk, MD of World Famous Kirk Originals, to get to know the man behind brand, the new store and the future.

This is what I found out!

Who is Jason Kirk/Kirk Originals?

Jason Kirk is half of Kirk Originals! The quiet genius behind the brand is Karen Kirk. Together we create eyewear that challenges preconceived ideas about what glasses should be.
Kirk originals is about how you feel when you put on a pair of glasses......not just how you look.

What made you go into eyewear?

My grandfather (Jason's) was a famous optical manufacturer and designer, a true pioneer that helped make London a centre of optical excellence. My Dad, now retired, was also an optician. Growing up in optics, it did not appeal to me as a career, it always seemed so dry until one day, I was helping my dad clear out his practice and we found boxes of beautiful glasses from the 1950s and 60s that Grandpa Sidney and his brother Percy had created. They were amazing and inspired us to put pencil to paper.

How does it feel to have your flagship store in London?

It is a pleasure and an honour to be amongst the coolest shops in the world. London is the epicentre of all things creative; music, fashion, art. We are proud to be a part of that scene and we hope that what we are doing will contribute to London's unique appeal.

With the decor what was your vision/concept?

We want the whole experience to be amazing. From hearing about us to wearing a pair of Kirk Originals and not being able to wait to get your next pair. The concept is that everybody is unique, special in their own way and they should feel special when they come in. Glasses are something that most of us have to wear every day so how great is it when an obligation becomes a source of pleasure? We wanted the eyewear to have a life of its own, a personality and we hope that, with the help of Campaign Design, we have achieved that.

Are there more plans for more stores in London or other parts of the UK?

Yes we do and you are going to ask me "where?" aren't you? Sorry I can't tell you or I'd have to kill you but suffice to say that the UK is strangely lacking in good creative optical stores and so there is room to open, not only in London, but elsewhere in the UK.

For myself I love the Kinetics collection, what is your favourite piece/s and why?

I am with you on that. The Kinetic Collection is a true first in optics. It takes a simple idea but they are so enjoyable to wear. I particularly like the white Chip frame with the skull motif.
Spectrum and Skull from the Kinetic collection

How important is social media marketing to Kirk's Originals

Extremely. We try hard to maintain a presence online but what I love is that social media can be so honest. If you get things right people spread the word for you, if you get it wrong, good luck.

Where do you see the future of the company going?

We are very ambitious. We sell our frames to opticians in 45 countries but right now we are looking at retail as the way forward. Having our own stores allows us to listen closely to immediate feedback and to learn where to go next.

MY VISIT TO THE NEW KIRK ORIGINALS FLAGSHIP STORE (LONDON)

So last month leading global eyewear brand Kirk Originals, celebrated the opening of its central London flagship store. Located on Conduit Street, one of London’s finest shopping destinations, the new flagship store aims to provide a fun, fashion-focussed experience for clients stemming from over 20 years of passionate eyewear design.  So yesterday I finally made time to go in an have a look around.

On entering it was quite surreal with all eyes on you, I found myself double taking which was quite amusing.
An eyewear store like no other, the flagship features a devoted ground floor of glasses and sunglasses with full eye examinations and fittings available in the basement.  The new flagship store is the only place where you can go and actually view the full and complete Kirk Originals collection.  This was surreal, I will use that word again because when you view the full collection just don't realise exactly how much choice you have.  I challenge anyone who is looking for eyewear to go in-store and say they could not find anything.  There is a vast choice something for all ages.

Each frame has been given its very own environment and displayed like a precious work of art enticing consumers to pick up and try on at their leisure. The store will also be stocking a selection of exciting independent eyewear brands entirely exclusive to the UK, these will include The Leisure Society, a brand new collection designed by Californian designer Shane Baum and Undostrial, a superbly colourful metallic range from Paris.

New to the Kirk Originals flagship store concept, the basement will feature a dedicated optician’s area for in-store eye examinations and prescription fittings by appointment. A first for Kirk Originals, the in-store optician will take time and care to ensure not only a thorough vision and health check but they will be on hand for sound medical advice and guidance.

The store itself was very modern spacious and black! with the lighting, display and the eyes actually works and creates a relaxing atmosphere and knowledgeable Kirk Originals staff will offer a truly unique service to help clients find the perfect pair of glasses. The next time your in need of eyewear I recommend checking out Kirk Originals as from start to finish it truly is a wonderful journey and for me I'm going for a pair from the Kinectic Collection!
