James Magnussen new face of Maurice Lacroix

Luxury Swiss watch brand, Maurice Lacroix, announced today that World Champion and Olympic Swimmer James Magnussen has officially signed to the brand as a new Ambassador.

Renowned for authenticity, craftsmanship and confidence, Maurice Lacroix is a brand with strong values that allows it to dictate its own goals and remain true to its core purpose: Inspiring people to be who they really are.

This substance and self-belief is clearly evident in its unique watch design and innovative marketing activations, constantly reaffirming the brand’s core values of being Authentic, Confident and Contemporary.

Since the launch of its first watch model in 1975, Maurice Lacroix has grown to become a sought-after manufacture brand, with its factories producing complex components for its own in-house mechanical calibers, thus allowing the brand to join the exclusive league of Swiss manufacture brands. Thanks to continued innovation both in technical fields and in the design itself, Maurice Lacroix has gone on to registere many patents and trademarks and has been awarded several prestigious Red Dot design awards.

With the popularity of the recently launched Pontos S range, the stylish, innovative and new sporting spirit of Maurice Lacroix has seen it evolve to become the perfect fit for the elite world class athlete.

Nicknamed the Missile, James Magnussen’s rise to swimming superstardom has been fast, if not explosive. In 2011 at the FINA World Championships, James upstaged his more experienced rivals to become the new 100m freestyle world champion. This win made Magnussen the first Australian man to win swimming’s glamour event since the world championships were established in 1973 and the first Australian to win over the distance at a major meet in 43 years.

Magnussen’s World Championship debut was made all that more impressive after he led Australia’s 4x100m freestyle team to gold. Not only did Magnussen help Australia break a decade long drought in the event but his opening split of 47.49secs makes him the fastest man in history without the aid of a supersuit. To further confirm his talent, Magnussen also led Australia to a silver medal in the 4x100m medley relay, swimming the final leg in an amazing 47secs.

More recently, at the 2012 London Olympic Games, James Magnussen showed great maturity in the pool to bring home to Australia a silver medal in the 100m Freestyle, and a Bronze medal in the 4x 100m medley relay. He now has his sights set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro.

“I am extremely proud to be partnered with one of the world’s leading prestige watch brands in Maurice Lacroix. The heritage, stylish design coupled with the new innovate sporting features suits my lifestyle perfectly” - James Magnussen, Olympian and World Champion.

“The stylish design and sporting spirit of our new Pontos collection is the perfect choice for a World Champion swimmer, and will serve James well in and out of the pool. Maurice Lacroix is all about the confident expression of oneself, having individual goals and personal values in life and never compromising them. We are absolutely delighted to be working with someone like James Magnussen for everything he has achieved and as he heads towards his second Olympic Games at Rio 2016.” - Christopher Leigh, Marketing Manager, Maurice Lacroix.
