CARVEN Collaborates with ANCIENT GREEK SANDALS - Resort '14

Founder and Creative Director of Ancient Greek Sandals, Christina Martini unveils her

collaboration with Parisian fashion house Carven as part of their Spring/Summer ’14 Resort collection.

Martini worked with Carven’s Creative Director, Guillaume Henry, to design an exclusive gladiator sandal inspired entirely by bananas. Each sandal features a series of elaborate overlapping shapes, which wrap around the foot, ankle and leg. The intricate pattern features a wealth of technical skill, incorporating cut- outs and hot stamps to keep the design as organic as possible, with stitching used only when absolutely necessary.

“I feel honoured to be collaborating with such an iconic fashion house. For the exclusive gladiator sandals, we have punctuated our traditional techniques such as cut-outs and hot stamps to create something as cool and fresh as Carven is!” Christina Martini

“When I started working on the Carven summer 2014 ‘introduction’ collection, I thought it would be formidable if the woman could wear the lightest stylish shoes: a sandal that would incarnate the story and the spirit of the collection whilst being comfortable. I would not have imagined collaborating with any other house than Ancient Greek Sandals. This season, the gladiator sandals become the banana sandals! To be continued...” - Guillaume Henry

The sandals come in flat, mid-height or high styles, in three plain vachetta colours: natural, yellow and black. The exclusive styles will be available in key stores worldwide-for Spring/Summer ’14 Resort, with prices starting at €240.
