STYLE ICON - JAMES DEAN

For the longest time one of my style icons has been the legendary James Dean... He wasn't with us for long but his legacy lives on! Know as an icon for his role in the movie "Rebel without a Cause" he came to the notice of the world not for his acting even thought he was a man of not many words but for more importantly his style...

Mr Dean's style can be described as many things but I've narrowed it down to a few things .... Relaxed, smart, bad boy all rolled up and I get to scruffy .... But it was his attitude that really came through with his style ..

His main wardrobe staples included the white t shirt a must for a every mans wardrobe, the stripe T shirt also a must have, denim shirt, 501s and the main piece of the puzzle the biker jacket.. He had a love of style, a love of fast cars which sadly took him away so young but still he lives on with fashion houses using his face on clothing and young boys still trying to be like him so many years on

Denim itself is a key piece to everyone's wardrobe, back in the 1950s James would have been considered a trendsetter with his love of denim which was originally made as worker man trousers and mainly in the carpenter style utility pants, James Dean wore them as a statement and made them a statement I wonder if he were alive today what would he think to know he was part of that movement which we could call rebel without a cause.... Moving forward meany years denim is featured still and has a heavy present from designers collection and featured on many runways around the world...

Now the good part using pieces from the Levi's icon collection for AW 13/14 I have tried recreate James' style but on my terms and with a modern edge .... I can only try and recreate but never better his style as he is truly and icon, his looks, the cigarette hanging from his mouth, the biker with collar but, denim jeans, signature t shirt and more importantly his attitude which when all put together mKes him look effortless and the Icon we remember know and love
