World's most unique advent calendar raises £880 for Oxfam

World’s most unique advent calendar raises £880 for Oxfam

25 leading international artists and crafters collaborated on a one-of-a-kind advent calendar to raise money for Oxfam this Christmas.

An exciting eBay auction to secure a set of 25 unique hand-finished boxes, each filled with a remarkable handcrafted gift, has raised £880 for Oxfam.  Some of the world’s leading designers, artists and makers pooled their talents for this extraordinary project, organised by international courier ParcelHero.

25 high-profile craftsmen and women, well-known for their arts and crafts blogs across the globe, donated their time and skills to create this amazing. The box raised £360 in an exciting ebay auction, and the project organisers, ParcelHero, donated a further £20 to Oxfam for each box, resulting in £880 going to the charity to help with its Christmas projects.

ParcelHero’s Head of Public Relations, David Jinks, says: ‘This is undoubtedly the most unique and inspired advent calendar ever created; but sadly only one person can own it! Huge congratulations to the winning bidder. It was an exciting auction and a remarkable project. We’re delighted that £880 will be going to Oxfam this Christmas thanks to the extraordinary generosity of these talented craftsmen and women.’

Amongst the well-known artists and craft workers taking part where Matt Jones, Jenny Barnett Rohrs, Hilary Pullen and Pablo Ientile.

Says David: ‘In our wildest dreams no one at ParcelHero could have predicted the variety and quality of the completed advent boxes. You can see images of these exclusive works of art in our ParcelHero Advent Calendar blog. Having delivered the original plain boxes to the artists and picked up the astonishing finished items from addresses across the UK, Europe and America, we finally had the pleasure of one final delivery, sending the completed artwork to the auction winner! ’

Oxfam’s Partnerships Manager Peter Hall was overwhelmed by the response to ParcelHero’s campaign. He says: ‘Oxfam gives a massive thankyou to every artist who has taken part. These advent boxes will help change lives. We are so impressed with the amount of effort and creativity that has gone into these creations!’
