David Longshaw has been the brand to watch for SS14, as this talented young designer has continued to develop his label through a host of collaborations. Building partnerships in London and Paris, David demonstrated that his combined skills as an illustrator and a talented designer make his brand one of the most exciting emerging labels to follow.
Firstly David partnered with MATCHESFASHION.COM on a series of initiatives to celebrate London Fashion Week including the re-launch of The Style Report, the bi-annual print publication fromMATCHESFASHION.COM.
David worked with MATCHESFASHION.COM to create three unique fashion week window displays for its central London stores. Inspired by David’s illustrated fashion characters, the windows featured ‘Maude the mouse (editor in chief of Maudezine) and co’ dressed in key pieces from the stores AW 2013 collections. Maude, acting as guest editor of MATCHESFASHION’s ‘The Style Report’, also popped up front row at top name LFW catwalk shows and was seen networking at Somerset House with key industry figures.
In addition David took up residency for two days at Yauatcha, the contemporary dim sum house in Soho, to paint more of his illustrations of Maude and Co on to their windows. This was as an element of the partnership between MATCHESFASHION.COM and Yauatcha, to offer bespoke macaroons exclusively produced by Hakkasan Group’s Executive Pastry Chef Graham Hornigold. With designs based on key autumn winter 2013 trends, guests enjoyed the macaroons whilst David created his London Fashion Week sketches onto Yauatcha’s windows.
In the final element of the partnership, David designed an exclusive printed silk scarf featuring illustrations of Maude and her team which are available exclusively to buy fromMATCHESFASHION.COM.
After the excitement of London, David Longshaw, Maude and Co took the Eurostar to Paris Fashion Week, where the brand was invited to participate in a One Night Only Party at the W Hotel, Paris. Maude was seen mingling with fashionista’s drinking signature cocktails whilst the party guests admired the evening’s hostesses wearing key pieces from the David Longshaw SS14 collection.
