Pioneering British 3D fashion designer, Catherine Wales to speak at Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development

Britain’s leading 3D print fashion designer Catherine Wales, has been invited to speak at Open Innovations 2013, at the second Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development. The event will be held from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November, 2013and focuses on Disruptive Technologies and Game Changers – trailblazers that dramatically change the rules of global markets.

Catherine will be speaking on the 31st of October about digital fashion in a session titledEmerging Technologies Powering Global Markets.

Catherine exploded onto the scene over the summer when she launched Project DNA, her three-dimensional accessories collection. The micro collection of 3D printed accessories produced using composite layers of white nylon features a scaffolded corset, a blossoming feathered shoulder piece and a waist bracelet complemented by four transformative headpieces that hide key areas of the face; including a guilded horn and a mirrored mask, and a cut out visor helmet.

The futuristic collection is completely unique and can be used both editorially to stimulate conceptual thinking and scientifically to develop the capabilities of luxury fashion prototyping within the 3D space.

Catherine’s work has been heralded as cross-pollinating high fashion, technology and science to re-evaluate conventional methods of garment construction and push the boundaries of digital fabrication within the luxury market.
